Adoption Process - Bringing Home a Deambarino Birman Kitten
Adopting a Birman kitten from us is a thoughtful and personal experience. Our goal is to ensure that every kitten finds a loving, lifelong home where they are cherished and well cared for.
We are selective and I think you should be too. This is a relationship which should last several generations. We have had repeat clients who come back and add new members to their families many years later and so for this to work, it's about trust and mutual respect. We are not your basic breeder where after a kitten is delivered, the deal is done. Our deal lasts for a lifetime, and sometimes even beyond.
When things go right, we want to hear about it. When things go wrong, we want to hear about. You will have lifelong support, from the mundane "of what comb should I buy" to the more serious issues related to health and behavioral concerns.
Please remember: If you are considering a Birman from us, you will need to have a "FELINE" cat companion in your home. Birmans will become extremely lonely if they do not have a constant companion. It does not need to be a Birman companion, but we evaluate the personalities of both cats (based on your information), to match the cats. THIS IS NOT NEGOTIABLE !
Our kittens are available around 14+ weeks old. I am in the process of creating a waiting list and adoption application, but till this completed and officially announced on my website, our cats/kittens are sold on a first come, first serve basis.
Step 1 - Get in Touch
Start by contacting us through email or through the
Kitten application form. Please tell us a bit about yourself, your home, and why you're interested in a Birman kitten. We love to get to know future families personally.
If your application is approved and our goals align, we want to talk ! We will schedule a phone or video call to get to know each other better and then, we mutually decide if we are a good fit. I use Telegram (preferred) or WhatsApp for Video calls.
Step 2 - Plan for a cattery visit and meet the kitties and us
We require all prospective pawrents to visit our home and meet our kittens in person whenever possible. If distance makes an in-person visit impractical, we will arrange several video calls instead.
We believe that choosing a kitten is an important decision, and we want both you and us to feel completely comfortable with the match. These visits allow you to see firsthand how our kittens are raised, meet their mother and father, and experience the loving environment in which they grow up. They also give us the opportunity to get to know you and learn more about the home and family that will welcome one of our babies.
By taking the time to connect with each other, we can ensure that every kitten is placed in a safe, loving, and suitable forever home, allowing you to make the best possible informed decision for your family.
Step 3 - Matchmaking
Each kitten has its own personality. We take time to match you with the right kitten - whether you're looking for a calm companion, a playful spirit, or a show-quality Birman.
If you fall in love with one of our cats or kittens during your visit, we will be happy to discuss the next steps with you. Depending on your location and the kitten's age, we can arrange a formal reservation with a deposit to secure your chosen kitten.
For families who require a reservation, a deposit agreement may be used to secure the chosen kitten until he or she is ready to go to their new home.
If the kitten or cat is already of appropriate age, has completed the required veterinary care, and is ready to leave for its new home, you may be able to take your new family member home with you the same day.
If there isn't a retiree, "grown kitten" or baby kitten currently available that captures your heart, we invite you to join our
waiting list for a future Deambarino Birman kitten. Your place will be secured once the waiting list agreement has been signed, along with a non-refundable waiting list fee of $200. This fee secures your position and will be applied toward the purchase price of your future kitten.
Step 4 - Reservation, contract and payment
If an available kitten captures your heart and is a good match for your family, you may proceed with a reservation.
Place a Reservation Deposit:
To reserve a specific kitten, a reservation deposit is required. Once the deposit is received and the Reservation Agreement is signed, the kitten will be marked as Reserved and held exclusively for your family.
We require a deposit of $ 300.00 which is NON refundable. This ensures your kitten is held exclusively for you and not offered to other families. If the buyer changes their mind for any reason, deposits will be considered payment for boarding, grooming and lost opportunities.
Prior to any payment, both parties will sign a sales contract.
If you take the kitten home with you after your visit, you will get a sales contract, Tica registration papers, pedigree, kitten bag, and the health records of the individual cat or kitten from my vet. Our payment terms are cash on delivery. I do NOT accept money order, Venmo, ACH, personal checks or Paypal.
Step 5 - Pick-up or hand delivery after your visit
You can pick up at my home in Pickens, SC at no additional charge once the kitten is ready to move.
